Will I watch it again?  Nah.

Good crime thriller.  I haven't seen a bad performance yet from any of these cats.  The story is pretty good but there's one big hole that needed to be addressed...where are the cops during all of this?  People are dying, disappearing, stealing, getting their asses kicked and so on.  Some of it can be explained I guess but there was too much going on that would have raised a few eyebrows.  The story gets bogged down around the 2/3 mark but it's never not interesting to some degree.  Besides, I like Nicholson and Caine enough that just their presence is enough to keep something borderline running along.  Rafelson's a guy that can get things done and he'd made a couple of classic films with Nicholson 25 years earlier.  It's definitely worth a look although I can't see any repeated viewings on the horizon.  The 20th Century Fox DVD has a lot of extras including commentary with Rafelson, scene specific commentary with cast members and a producer, 7 featurettes totaling a little more than an hour, 8 deleted scenes with an introductory by Rafelson, the trailer for this film and one for another Rafelson picture, BLACK WIDOW (1987).
